I asked ChatGPT to find where cowboys still chase bulls through the bush. It was a risk to follow AI's advice, but one sacred rock and 900 kilometers later, I was standing in a dusty field, bulls pawing the ground, the sun sinking low. The real thing was about to begin.
Another beautiful article Mitchell. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and photos. Although I do not like heat at all it seems like you are having a great time. The world is changing so fast that these kind of articles will be like reading history. Thank you again, can’t wait for the next part.
Ah. What an interesting event to follow! Wild that it's self-produced on YouTube now, too. The images are great and the color is striking. Can't believe that 72 year old dude is still doing it!
Again, so nice to read this. I've been in Piauí, but never went deeper into the sertão, Your documentation is really nice, love the photography. well done!
I've been really enjoying your words as much as the photography.
Awesome to hear. :)
Come on Mitch man - you are keeping us 'hangin' for the next instalment.
Haha, yes, but also I haven't finished processing some images yet.

I LOOOVE heat and I have aircon... when there's a place to plug into. :) For the coming years, at least this tradition will go on.

Thank you for sharing this story as well as beautiful photographs from an event that most of us will never see. So look forward to the next chapter.
Much more to come :)
Fascinating...!
Excellent telling of the story and great photos, look forward to part II...
Thank you! :)
Looking forward to the next chapter! I love that the man sang to you!
Yeh, it was really touching.

The deeper sertão is really where the interesting stuff is, I thought. The coast is tiny and the capital... well, just another capital. :)
