In the heart of Brazil’s sertão, at dawn, cowboys begin to gather. The sun’s not golden yet, the air carries tension, and leather vests lie draped over rusty truck hoods, waiting. What unfolds is both brutal and poetic—Pega de Boi no Mato, a centuries-old ritual of courage, chaos, and tradition. I followed the cowboys, dodged bulls, chased light, and captured something real.
Mitchell, first the photos: those are some of the most outstanding photos I've seen of your collection this year!! Executed perfectly - the motion blur, the portraits, the color balance, all of it! The story was riveting too... Just beautiful! ... and funny enough, my next post scheduled for next week references a bull.
Superb. I envy your lifestyle but at the same time am motivated by it and understand the challenges you must face balancing family. My recent adventure alone in India cemented my desire to follow in footsteps of yourself and every other documentary/travel/adventure pioneer. Keep creating Sir.
Beautiful story!
Splendid story and wonderful photographs. Like being there!!
Thank you very much! :) It was quite something.
Another beautiful story Mitchell. It sounds very hard to get the photos you did. 👏
Thank you, George!
Loved this piece. The images are quite visceral. You say the light was not great, but it looks it.
Oh, there WERE great moments for light, for sure. Just that the morning was very flat and boring.

The cultural jewels of the interior of Brazil. Was this in the nordeste?
YES! Piaui! :)
I thought so! A part of Brasil that I don’t know and want very much to discover. Must be beautiful!

I just want to provide the motivation. The world is amazing. It's worth exploring and getting to know, especially in places that few know about.
Superb work 👏
